about our designs
Coming in a variety of finishes – matte, satin semi-gloss, or high-gloss – Venetian plaster gives the illusion of depth and texture. The combination of materials and technique creates a complex richness of colors and patterns that traditional flat paint lacks. Through traditional techniques, our team can make your walls look like travertine, natural stone, or even mother-of-pearl.
Venetian plaster requires no sealer and doesn’t fade. It is a luxurious investment into your home that elevates any surface it covers. Completely customizable, Venetian plaster is a great way to bring your personality into your home, and because it is created with layers of plaster and colors, every time you look at your walls you notice new details. Each viewing unveils another layer that creates a never-ending sensory discovery!
From a technical standpoint, Venetian plaster is rock-hard, much stronger than a flat paint, actually giving strength to a wall. It requires no maintenance; just clean it with a dry cloth, and is easy to repair. Because of our teams’ intensive training, you will never see any seams or repair points. Plus it’s waterproof and anti-bacterial!
An Ancient Form of Wall Art in the Modern World.
Venetian plaster is the modern term for an ancient stuccoed coating. It’s a mixture of plaster and marble or limestone dust, applied with a spatula or trowel in thin, multiple layers, which are then burnished to create a smooth surface.
Used as far back as Roman times (it can be seen today in the villas of Pompeii), this wall covering was rediscovered in the Renaissance during the fifteenth century. It fit the aesthetic requirements of the classical ideal that had become fashionable in Venice – hence its name today.
So, how can you bring this classical technique into your modern home? By scheduling a one-on-one consultation, we can work with you to find the perfect texture and color combination to make your home shine. We know Venetian plaster better than anybody outside Europe, with all of our artisans having been trained by a master! Naturally, we use only the best European materials: marble dust, limestone dust, silver and gold paint, etc., all imported from San Marino, Italy. All our work is completed solely by hand utilizing the traditional European method. Our team specialized in bringing this ancient art form into the modern world.
